No school for two weeks? What could be any better
than that? (Kidding!) Sembreak is the most awaited time of the year for
students…and yes teachers. It’s the perfect time to unwind and well, take a
break.
If you have not made any plans yet, these
suggestions might help:
ROAD TRIP. Pack your bags, gas up and
gun that engine. Hit the road to God knows where. Road trips are perfect
bonding experiences amongst family and friends. Oh and don’t forget the camera.
It would be nice to capture candid moments during the trip.
READ. Catch up on your
readings. The
cheapest way to travel the world and discover new things at the comfort of your
own home is by leafing your way through the pages of a book.
SIGN UP FOR VOLUNTEER WORK. Some hospitals
like the East Avenue Medical Center welcomes volunteers to spend a day making
children with terminal illnesses happy by keeping them company. You can also
sign up for volunteer work in cause-oriented groups as Gawad Kalinga, Bantay
Bata and Sagip Kapamilya.
EXERCISE. It’s time to bring
out those
dumbbells, hula hoop, exercise ball, and yoga mat that have been sitting in the
storage for a while. Invite some friends over and organize a work-out session.
If not, you can go for a walk or run around the village. These are good forms
of exercise as well.
GET A MAKEOVER. Get a new do – Mohawk
for the boys and bangs for the girls. Pair it up with a new set of outfit and
perhaps a pair of kicks to wit.
DECLUTTER. Clean up your closet.
Separate the ones that you can still use and those that you can donate to
charity or sell for extra cash.
10. SLEEP. Need I say more? For doing a
job well done waking up early in the morning, doing well in class and staying
up late at night studying, this is one thing you truly deserve.
